Preparing for Your Remote Production
Pre-Production Checklist


Producer/Director

  • Decide in advance: 

    • What are the desired talking points that we want speaker to cover?

  • Email questions to speaker.

  • Decide internal team roles before shooting.

  • Clearly communicate: 

    • Who is taking notes? 

    • Who is recording the backup Zoom file?


Director of Photography

  • Set Filmic Pro presets in advance.

  • Analyze footage and photos of possible subject locations.

  • Identify ideal filming locations.

  • Create sketch of room with equipment diagram to send to producer, speaker.


Production Coordinator

  • Ship kit to speaker (include return label, if possible).

  • Email speaker all needed instructions/documents:

  • Request location photos and video:

    • Photos from all four corners of room plus 360º video from center of room

  • Schedule meeting with DP and audio engineer to review location photos and discuss logistics.

  • Make sure ‘placeholder’ calendar events are updated with actual shoot time and Zoom link.

  • Remind speaker to charge phones fully before the interview.

  • Create dedicated folder prior to call for speaker uploads, share with all relevant team members.

  • Send out speaker release form.
