Preparing for Your Remote Production
Pre-Production Checklist
Producer/Director
Decide in advance:
What are the desired talking points that we want speaker to cover?
Email questions to speaker.
Decide internal team roles before shooting.
Clearly communicate:
Who is taking notes?
Who is recording the backup Zoom file?
Director of Photography
Set Filmic Pro presets in advance.
Analyze footage and photos of possible subject locations.
Identify ideal filming locations.
Create sketch of room with equipment diagram to send to producer, speaker.
Production Coordinator
Ship kit to speaker (include return label, if possible).
Email speaker all needed instructions/documents:
Any needed instruction manuals
Request location photos and video:
Photos from all four corners of room plus 360º video from center of room
Schedule meeting with DP and audio engineer to review location photos and discuss logistics.
Make sure ‘placeholder’ calendar events are updated with actual shoot time and Zoom link.
Remind speaker to charge phones fully before the interview.
Create dedicated folder prior to call for speaker uploads, share with all relevant team members.
Send out speaker release form.
